Kid Friendly Green Smoothies

Kid Friendly Green Smoothies!

There are a lot of reasons to love a good smoothie, but getting your kids to eat greens is one of the best ones! This green smoothie is kid friendly because it’s sweet tasting…your kids will never know that there are two cups of spinach in this nutritious drink. You can tell them the green color comes from green grapes and if you blend it smoothly, you can fool them. With my training this past year, I’ve studied over 75 different dietary theories and the one thing that every nutrition expert agrees on… we all need more greens! My kids ask for smoothies mainly because they taste good and they are a quick, healthy snack that they can grab on the go. My 19 year old son, who works out daily, says the smoothies fill him up and he likes the fact that they are portable. I make a big pitcher of smoothies every morning and our family all has one at some time during the day. Along with the greens, you get calcium and probiotics from the yogurt in the smoothie, which we can all use. I invested in a Vita-Mix blender a few years back and it’s a purchase I have never regretted. I have literally used my blender almost daily for 8 years. I can blend a packed blender of frozen fruit and spinach in about 20-30 seconds. We are all really busy and things have to be easy or they won’t happen. If you really want smoothies to become a part of your diet, I would highly recommend investing in a good quality blender at some point. You can get by with a less expensive blender, but just know that it will take longer to blend up your ingredients. For a family, I like the 5200 series Vitamix with the 64 oz container because you can make a large quantity. If you don’t need to make as much smoothie or want one that fits under your cabinets you might want the smaller Vitamix. You can get more information on Vitamix Blenders here. I understand that not everyone can afford to invest in a good quality blender, for me it was an essential item. When I was ill, using my Vitamix was a quick way for me to make something nutritious without a lot of effort in the kitchen. I view my blender as a power tool in my kitchen and it certainly has performed that way. In regards to other blenders, I can’t really speak for their performance, but I have heard good things about the Blend-Tec and for a less expensive model the Nutri- Bullet. I would recommend doing your research and shop around to get what is right for you and your family.
